Purifier and humidifier at work - why is it so important? - Klarta

According to research published in February 2022, 57% of offices and workplaces worldwide suffer from the so-called sick building syndrome. This term refers to poor indoor air quality caused not only by prevailing pollution but also by inadequate temperature, humidity, or carbon dioxide concentration.

All these factors contribute to headaches and dizziness, throat irritation, and dry and itchy skin. Consequently, it distracts us from work and reduces our efficiency in daily tasks. Why is it important to maintain air quality at work, and how can a purifier and humidifier help with this?

Air purifier and humidifier at work – why is it so important?

Efficient employees are one of the most important pillars of every employer’s business. While companies often spend thousands or tens of thousands of dollars on various training sessions or motivational bonuses, the topic of air quality often goes unaddressed.

Meanwhile, scientists at the University of Berkeley have developed a tool that compares the results obtained in cognitive tests by employees performing test tasks in conditions of optimal temperature and humidity versus those where temperature and humidity deviated from the norm. Maintaining optimal temperature and humidity alone allowed for 5.4% better results. Reducing the number of pollutants improved efficiency by 10%.

Other studies show that improving air quality at work leads to:

  • 35% fewer employee absences
  • Approximately 10% increase in employee efficiency
  • Productivity = higher profits (estimated by Professor Joseph Allen of Harvard to be up to $6,500 annually)
  • Increased employee satisfaction with working in a given place

Office air purifier – what should it be like?

When choosing an air purifier for work, consider several aspects:

  • High efficiency, suitable for often large spaces
  • Low operating costs – affordable replacement filters and low power consumption
  • Quiet operation – so that the device does not distract employees
  • Simple, convenient, and time-saving operation

All these conditions are met by the Klarta Stor. With a cleaning efficiency estimated at 600 m³/h, this model is dedicated to rooms up to 860 ft². Therefore, it will successfully work in open office spaces or waiting area corridors.

Office humidifier – what should it be like?

First and foremost, it should be safe. As a device designed to protect the skin, eyes, and nasal and throat mucous membranes from drying out, the air humidifier should rely on healthy and hygienic humidification methods.

That’s why we created an evaporative humidifier that uses the natural cold evaporation method, where water is filtered and then emitted as a dust-free, mineral-free invisible mist into the environment.

Of course, like any device in constant contact with water, the humidifier should be used hygienically, i.e., rinse the tank after each use of water and periodically clean it with a mild detergent. It is also advisable to descale the filter once every 3-4 weeks.

Apart from safe use, an office air humidifier should have:

  • Quiet operation, not distracting
  • Simple operation and a convenient water filling system
  • Adequate humidification efficiency

Klarta Humea combines durable construction, easy operation, quiet performance (only 24 and 31 dB at the two lowest speeds), and low operating costs. The power consumption of the Klarta evaporative humidifier is only 2-8 W. The efficiency of 300 ml/h allows for comfortable operation on about 474 ft². For larger areas, we recommend purchasing two or more devices.

Air purifier and humidifier at work – why choose Klarta?

Monitoring PM2.5 levels, temperature, and humidity

A clear display on the main panel or data in the mobile app allows you to continuously monitor and control air quality in your workplace.

3 x auto mode in air purifiers

Take advantage of the highly stringent automatic modes designed by our engineers. Turn on the purifier, set it to Auto Silent, Auto Normal, or Auto Turbo mode, and return to your regular tasks. You can feel at ease – the purifier will dynamically respond to all factors that may deteriorate air quality.

Hygrometer and hygrostat in the air humidifier for better humidity control

The hygrometer (humidity meter) reads the current humidity level in the environment. The hygrostat allows you to set the target, comfortable humidity level. Optimal values are considered to be 40-60%. Meanwhile, in many office buildings, relative humidity drops even below 25-30%. This problem particularly affects modern buildings with air conditioning systems instead of windows.

Convenient mobile control

Manage air quality without leaving your desk. Klarta air purifiers and humidifiers are equipped with a Wi-Fi module, connecting to the Smart Life mobile app. This allows you to monitor PM2.5 levels, temperature, and humidity without interrupting your work. You can also change the speed or operating mode with a single click. The most advanced feature is creating your own operating rules, which can refer to a specific day, individual hours, or specific conditions at work or outside.

Low operating costs

Energy-efficient Klarta devices consume very little power, offering surprising efficiency in return! The Klarta Humea WiFi evaporative humidifier uses only 2 to 8 W of electricity. When operating at the lowest speeds, the Klarta Forste 4 air purifier consumes only 5 W of power. At Turbo + speed, it is only 43 W.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about air purifiers and humidifiers at work

1. Which is better? An air purifier or a humidifier?

These devices serve different functions. Klarta air purifiers focus on filtering air from dust particles, suspended dust, allergens, bacteria, and viruses. An evaporative air humidifier primarily helps maintain an optimal level of environmental humidity.

2. How long can an air humidifier be on?

There is no universal answer; simply put, until it reaches the desired relative humidity. The humidification process, however, can last for various periods depending on the room conditions.

3. Does a desk air humidifier make sense?

Absolutely. It primarily protects tired eyes, ensuring proper hydration of the throat and nose. A gentle air breeze should not cause concerns about colds. However, it's worth adjusting the airflow level to your own preferences.

4. Does an air humidifier cause mold?

No worries. With conscious use of the equipment, maintaining hygiene, and controlling environmental humidity levels, there is no possibility of mold developing inside the device or in the humidified room.
