Sizing
Humidifiers are sized by moisture output, not by CADR or air changes per hour (ACH). CADR and ACH describe how fast an air purifier cleans the air. Our guide What size air purifier do I need? explains both.
Klarta Humea is recommended for rooms up to 474 sq ft. How much space it actually humidifies depends on the room's humidity, temperature, ventilation, heating and the weather outside, so the real area can be smaller.

Technology
Klarta Humea is an evaporative (wick) humidifier, not an ultrasonic one. Three parts do the work.
Humea runs on cold tap, distilled, mineral or drinking water, no warmer than 104 °F (40 °C). Hard water wears out the wick faster. The harder your water, the closer you'll get to the 3-month end of its 3–6 month life.
Humidity
You can run Humea in three ways. The display normally shows the room's current humidity, so you can always see the level at a glance.
Whichever mode you use, watch for condensation. If it forms on windows or walls, the room is humid enough. Lower the target or switch the unit off, because humidifying past that point can cause damage.
Placement
Humea is compact: about 9 in across, 14.3 in tall and 5.07 lb. The same rules apply in every room.
Bedroom: Put it on a stable, waterproof surface near the bed, never on the bed itself, and turn on sleep mode at night.
Living room: Choose an open spot away from heat sources, where air can move freely around the unit.
Home office: A clear corner of a waterproof desktop or a nearby shelf works, as long as the vents stay unblocked.
Nighttime and smart control
Humea's rated noise ranges from 24 to 52 dB (±3 dB) across its settings. Three features help at night.
Smart Life app: Humea pairs with the free Smart Life app for iOS and Android over a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Hold the Auto button until the Wi-Fi icon flashes quickly, then add the device in the app. You don't have to use the app, because every control is also on the unit. Care and maintenance
An evaporative humidifier works only as well as its wick. This is the care routine from the Humea manual. Always switch the unit off and unplug it before you refill or clean it.
Use only the genuine Klarta Humea filter, available in our filter shop. Fill the tank with plain water only: no essential oils, fragrance or cleaners.
Complete air comfort
A humidifier and an air purifier do different jobs. A humidifier adds moisture to dry indoor air. An air purifier doesn't change humidity. It pulls air through filters to help capture airborne particles. If your home feels dry during heating season, start with a humidifier. If airborne dust, pet hair or smoke particles bother you more, start with a purifier.

In an evaporative humidifier like Klarta Humea, a fan pulls room air through a water-soaked wick filter, and the air picks up moisture before it goes back into the room. Humea's built-in humidistat slows the fan to a very low speed once the room reaches your target and speeds it up again when humidity drops. Humea is an evaporative humidifier, not an ultrasonic one.
The Klarta Humea manual says to stand the unit upright on a solid, flat, waterproof surface at least 4 in (10 cm) from walls, and never on a bed or sofa. Keep it away from radiators, heaters, open flames and direct sun, keep the vents clear, and don't leave it standing on a wood floor for long periods. In a bedroom, put it on a waterproof surface near the bed and use sleep mode at night.
Yes. Klarta Humea can run all day because its humidistat does the regulating. In Auto it holds 50% RH, or you can set your own target from 40% to 75%, and the fan slows right down once the room gets there. Continuous (CO) mode has no target, so check the reading if you use it. Change the water every day. When you're not using the unit, unplug it, as the manual asks.
Yes, a humidifier can add more moisture than a room needs. That's why Klarta Humea has a built-in humidistat that slows the fan once the room reaches your target (40–75% RH, or 50% in Auto mode). The clearest sign is condensation on windows or walls. When you see it, the room is humid enough, so lower the target or switch the unit off.
The Klarta Humea manual gives a simple routine. Switch the unit off and unplug it, change the water and rinse the wick every day, and wash the tank every 1–2 days with a soft cloth in warm water no hotter than 86 °F (30 °C). To descale, soak the wick for 8–20 minutes in a 1:1 mix of vinegar and water no hotter than 140 °F (60 °C), then rinse it. Never use solvents or abrasives, and never submerge the upper housing.
Klarta Humea runs on 12 V DC from its included adapter, with a rated maximum input of about 7.2 W. The manual doesn't list power use for each speed. Its wick filter lasts about 3–6 months depending on water hardness and use, and replacements are in the Klarta filter shop.
Start with the device that fixes the problem you notice most: Klarta Humea for dry indoor air, or a Klarta Forste or Stor air purifier for airborne dust, pet hair or smoke particles.
