Made for the room you use most
Put Klarta Forste where you spend the most time: the bedroom, the nursery, the living room or the home office. Use one unit per room, because air moves only a little between rooms, and stand it on the floor with about 8 in of clear space on every side.
Klarta Forste is rated for rooms up to 1,237 sq ft at 1 air change per hour (ACH). At 1 ACH, the air in a room that size passes through its filters about once an hour. In a smaller room, it does so more often.
Its maximum PM2.5 clean air delivery rate (CADR) is 165 CFM (manufacturer rating).
Three filters for dust, pet hair and odors
- Pre-filter: a fine mesh that stops dust, hair and pet hair. Check it at least every 2 weeks and, if needed, vacuum it on low with a soft brush.
- H13 filter: helps capture particles as small as 0.003 microns, including cigarette-smoke and smog particles, mold spores, and pet, plant and dust-mite allergens.
- Activated carbon filter: helps absorb odors, formaldehyde and other VOCs.
A FILTER alert on the display tells you when it is time for new H13 and carbon filters. We recommend replacing them at least once a year, and how long they last depends on use and your air. Never wash them. The magnetic front panel comes off by hand.
Klarta Forste is quieter than a whisper in Sleep mode
Sleep mode runs at 20 dB(A) and draws just 5–6 W.
- 20 dB Sleep mode
- 26 dB Silent+ (Silent on the panel)
- 30 dB Whisper (approx.)
- 36 dB Auto Sleep, at most
- 40 dB Refrigerator hum (approx.)
- 43 dB Slow+ (Slow on the panel)
- 53 dB Fast+ (Fast on the panel)
- 60 dB Normal conversation (approx.)
- 66 dB Turbo+ (Turbo on the panel), top speed
Klarta Forste noise levels are the manufacturer's dB(A) figures. Reference sounds are approximate everyday levels (ASHA).
Six finishes
Six finishes to suit the room
The front panel comes off by hand. Air enters through both sides and leaves through the top, so give it about 8 in of clear space around it. Choose your finish with the color picker at the top of the page.
Auto mode that reads the room
Klarta Forste has three built-in sensors: a laser PM2.5 sensor, plus temperature and humidity sensors. The round display shows all three live, in µg/m³, °F and %.
In Auto, the fan follows the PM2.5 reading. At 0–5 µg/m³, rated Excellent, it runs on its quietest speed, 20 dB(A). From 31 µg/m³ the reading is rated Bad, and above 35 µg/m³ the default Auto Turbo runs at full speed. It speeds up as soon as the reading climbs, then steps back down after 4 minutes once the reading falls.
Run it from the panel, the remote or your phone
On Klarta Forste, the control panel and the included remote cover power, 4 fan speeds, Auto, Sleep and child lock. For Sleep mode, hold Sleep for 3 seconds on the panel, or press Sleep twice on the remote: it runs the quietest speed with the panel lights off.
The free Smart Life app for iOS and Android adds more:
- All 8 fan speeds and all 3 Auto modes
- Auto modes that change by time of day
- Your own rules that pick a speed by air quality
- The same live PM2.5, temperature and humidity readings on your phone
The app needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Ready to run the day it arrives
Klarta Forste comes with a full filter set (pre-filter, H13 and carbon), a remote control and a user manual. Open the front panel, unwrap the filters and put them back, then plug it in and press ON/OFF. After a 10-second sensor warm-up, it starts in Auto.

Questions people actually ask
Before you buy
How many square feet does the Klarta Forste cover?
The Klarta Forste is rated for rooms up to 1,237 sq ft at 1 air change per hour (ACH): the air in a room that size passes through its filters about once an hour, and more often in a smaller room. Its maximum PM2.5 clean air delivery rate (CADR) is 165 CFM (manufacturer rating). Use one unit per room, such as a bedroom, nursery or home office, and stand it on the floor with about 8 in of clear space on every side.
Is the Klarta Forste quiet enough for a bedroom?
Yes, the Klarta Forste runs at 20 dB(A) in Sleep mode, its quietest setting, drawing just 5–6 W with the control panel and air-quality display dark. Hold Sleep for 3 seconds on the panel, or press Sleep twice on the remote, to start it; a short press only turns the lights off. For automatic cleaning overnight, choose Auto Sleep in the app: it uses only the three quietest speeds and stays at or below 36 dB(A). Noise levels are the manufacturer's figures.
Does the Klarta Forste help with smoke, pet hair and odors?
Yes, the Klarta Forste helps capture smoke particles and pet hair and helps absorb odors, using a pre-filter, an H13 filter and an activated carbon filter. The fine-mesh pre-filter stops larger particles such as dust, hair and pet hair. The H13 filter helps capture particles as small as 0.003 microns, including cigarette-smoke and smog particles, mold spores, and pet, plant and dust-mite allergens. The activated carbon filter helps absorb odors, formaldehyde and other VOCs.
How does Auto mode work on the Klarta Forste?
The Klarta Forste's Auto mode reads the air with a laser PM2.5 sensor and sets the fan speed for you. At 0–5 µg/m³, rated Excellent, it runs on its quietest speed; above 35 µg/m³, the default Auto Turbo goes to full speed. It speeds up as soon as the reading rises and waits at least 4 minutes before stepping back down. Two quieter Auto modes, set in the app, cap the noise: Auto Normal at 53 dB(A) and Auto Sleep at 36 dB(A) (manufacturer's figures).
Does the Klarta Forste work with an app, and does it need Wi-Fi?
Yes, the Klarta Forste works with the free Smart Life app for iOS and Android, which unlocks all 8 fan speeds and all 3 Auto modes, switches Auto modes by time of day and runs your own rules that pick a speed by air quality. Without the app, the control panel and included remote still cover power, 4 fan speeds, Auto, Sleep and child lock. The app needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (5 GHz is not supported) with WPA2-PSK or WPA-PSK security.
How much electricity does the Klarta Forste use?
The Klarta Forste uses from 5–6 W in Sleep mode up to its rated 60 W at top speed, on standard 120 V, 60 Hz US household current. In Auto, the default Auto Turbo tops out at 60 W, Auto Normal at 21 W and Auto Sleep at 9 W. Actual draw also depends on whether Wi-Fi and backlight-off are in use. It draws a little power in standby, so unplug it for long-term storage.
How much does the Klarta Forste cost, and what shipping, returns and warranty come with it?
The Klarta Forste costs $229 on klarta.com in all six colors: Full Black, White, Gold, Pink, Silver and Wood Black. Standard US shipping on klarta.com orders is free with no minimum, expedited shipping is a flat $15, and orders are processed the same or next business day. Undamaged items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, and the Forste has a 2-year US warranty. Interest-free installments are available at checkout.
How often should I replace the Klarta Forste filters?
Klarta recommends replacing the Klarta Forste's H13 and activated carbon filters at least once a year; how long they last depends on use and your local air. A FILTER alert on the display tells you when they are due, and replacement filters are sold in the filters collection on klarta.com. Filters change by hand, with no tools. Never wash the H13 or carbon filters; check the pre-filter at least every 2 weeks and vacuum it on low.
What comes in the box with the Klarta Forste, and how do I set it up?
The Klarta Forste comes with a full filter set (pre-filter, H13 and activated carbon), a remote control and a printed English user manual. To set it up, pull off the magnetic front panel, take every filter out of its plastic wrap and put them back in the order carbon, H13, pre-filter. Plug it in and press ON/OFF; after a 10-second sensor warm-up, it starts in Auto Turbo. Never run it without filters.
