5 Common Mistakes of Air Purifier Users - Klarta

5 Common Mistakes of Air Purifier Users - Klarta

Avoiding stronger cleaning modes for fear of high bills or annoying noise. Placing the air purifier in locations where it won't attract attention at the expense of proper air circulation in the room. These are just some of the mistakes users of air purifiers make, causing even the best device to fall short of expectations. What mistakes do we make most often, and how should we properly use an air purifier? Read on to discover best practices for use of your Klarta Stor and Klarta Forste smart air purifiers.

5 mistakes air purifier users make

1. Using at too low a setting

Klarta air purifiers offer many speed levels and modes of operation. A common mistake users make is avoiding higher speeds for fear of noise or excessive power consumption. These concerns are unfounded, as at the 6th speed level, the Klarta Forste generates only 53 dB of noise. At the highest speed (8th level) and maximum efficiency, the purifier produces just 59 dB. The maximum power consumption is also only 41 W.

Designed for large areas, the Klarta Stor boasts enormous efficiency, reaching 600 m³/h. It consumes no more than 70 W and generates about 64 dB. The 4th speed guarantees a cleaning efficiency sufficient for most standard rooms - 600 m³/h, which is about 860 ft² of space. Stor then consumes only 11 W and generates about 47 dB.

Using air purifiers at too low settings can result in consistently elevated levels of pollutants in our environment. This, in turn, creates the impression that the purifier cannot handle harmful substances in a given room. Do not be afraid of "Turbo" modes, which can be turned on even for a short period, such as a few minutes, to completely filter the air.

2. Cleaning the pre-filter too infrequently

Both Klarta Forste and Klarta Stor have pre-filters designed to capture larger solid particles from the air, such as dust particles, hair, or fur. It is worth vacuuming the pre-filter at least 1-2 times a month, using a vacuum cleaner or a slightly damp cloth, to remove the layers of dirt accumulated on the filter.

Otherwise, airflow, and thus cleaning efficiency, will decrease. The device may also work a bit louder.

3. Using worn-out filters

The operation of air purifiers, including Klarta air purifiers, inevitably involves filter wear. Our devices require the replacement of H13 and carbon filters. Both purifiers will remind you when it's time to replace the filters.

   Filter Replacement in Klarta Forste:

   - H13 and carbon filter - every 1 year.

   Filter Replacement in Klarta Stor:

   - H13 and carbon filter - every 2 years.

Filter replacement may occur sooner or later depending on daily exposure to various types of pollution. The filter lifespan can vary from place to place. Therefore, it is good to monitor the filter's dirtiness regularly. A brownish color will signal the need for replacement.

4. One purifier for the entire apartment

Another common mistake is using a single purifier for the entire apartment. Unless you have a studio apartment or an open space like a loft, purifiers should be bought with specific rooms in mind, not the whole apartment.

Due to the layout of walls and corridors, even the strongest air purifier in the bedroom won't be able to mix air effectively enough to filter it in the living room located in another part of the house.

5. Placing the purifier in a way that limits air circulation (under a shelf, too close to objects)

When designing our purifiers, we strive to create devices that independently take care of the breathing comfort of their users. They should be quiet, unnoticed everyday guardians of air quality. Therefore, we understand users who place air purifiers in inconspicuous spots, such as under desks or in niches.

However, it's essential to remember that effective filtration requires proper, unobstructed circulation. This can be ensured by placing the purifier at least 8 in away from walls or furniture. This way, the air outlet and inlet are not obstructed in any way.

Why is proper use important?

A properly used device can offer the best, closest to original, parameters for a longer time. The same applies to air purifiers, where periodically cleaning the air quality sensor can guarantee accurate readings for a longer time. Taking care of the proper placement of the purifier, both during operation and storage or transport, can affect the fan's operation.

It also affects the quality of the air we breathe in the room. If the filters are clogged or glued together, they won't be able to effectively trap incoming pollutants. Hence, regular vacuuming of the pre-filter and replacement of H13 and carbon filters are crucial.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can the air purifier be on with an open window?

It is not recommended as it nullifies the positive effect of the purifier's operation. On the other hand, do not give up on opening windows altogether. It should be done wisely – for example, by intensively airing the room for a few minutes 2-3 times a day instead of slightly opening the window for several hours.

2. How long should the air purifier be on?

Air purifiers can and should be on all day. They can constantly monitor the air quality in our environment and dynamically react to detected pollutants.

3. Where should the air purifier be placed in the apartment?

When placing the air purifier, consider where you spend the most time during the day. The most common choices are living rooms and bedrooms. Just remember that the purifier's inlet and outlet should have access to open space. Placing the purifier near windows is a good solution, as it ensures filtration of the air masses coming in from outside.
